What's On: DAB Bowl 2010

Date: Sunday 7th February 2010 Start: 12.30pm Kick-Off: 1.00pm Venue: 3G Pitch, University of Derby, Kedleston Road, Derby, Derbyshire, DE22 1GB
Last year the Derby Braves (www.derbybraves.com) founded their very own highlight game to raise funds for charity - The DAB DAB BOWL 2009 was the biggest sporting event that a sport at the University had ever seen with over 500 people attending, in the world of American Football this equivocates to 30,000 at a soccer game, this event resulted in funds being raised to just under one thousand pounds which went to DAB.
The DAB BOWL 2010 is set be the bigger and better then last year and our opponents are none other than Loughborough University. We currently have a mini site with details of when and where it will be: http://www.dabbowl.tk we also have a page set up for people to buy tickets online: http://dabbowl.eventbrite.com/?ref=ebtn.
The day will be filled of plenty of activities to fill your boots, you can watch the game or go up to the bar, even play games yourself and test out your skills on a few consoles, meet the cheerleaders or the team mascot. What has just been mentioned is the tip of the iceberg!
This sport has boomed over the past few years and maybe you are already aware that there are over one hundred teams playing in the UK split between the British Universities American Football League (www.buafl.net) and local senior sides competing in a robust League (www.bafa.org.uk). The sport really came to light as Wembley hosted the first NFL regular season fixture in 2007 for many fans and celebrities alike! As a result we have seen more people in the UK take interest in the sport following the NFL on Channel 5 and Sky sports. We are currently the existing channel 5 BUAFL Challenge Champions. The Wembley game is a showcase game which is aimed at anyone who can make it, at the stadium the entertainment, sound and vision is of the best quality. In America there are over 33 bowl games and in the UK only 4, of which we host one.
