Mike (66) says 'I have been coerced into this by my daughter, but it should be good for my hip replacement!' Mary (32) is a full time student at Derby University, studying a degree in Zoology.

Sunday, 16th July: Now in the Cheviot Hills, should make the Kirk Yetholm sometime tonight. Weather is hot again but wind is cool, not long now.
Saturday, 15th July: Still on Hadrians Wall, good day's walking, getting hot again, all very tired now.
Thursday, 13th July: Now at Greenhead, we start on Hadrians Wall tomorrow, weather warming up again. Though I walk through the valley of the Pennine I shall fear no evil. Two maps down Lord, one to go.
Wednesday, 12th July: Well another good days walking. We are now at Alston. A bit up and down today, Dads feet, my knees and all of Jasper ache. Other than that all is well.
Tuesday, 11th July: Now outside Dufton, catching up on lost miles now the weather has cooled. I think Jasper could do with a holiday.
Monday, 10th July: Not far from Baldersdale, weather still windy but it has cooled down, it's all up hill again.
Sunday, 9th July: Good day off yesterday, we slept all day. Now at Hawes, had a very wet day. We are going to look for the Perfigives now, we came across a convoy of old tractors along the moor path.
Saturday, 8th July (Post card): Hope you are all well? The weather is too hot, people have ended the walk because of it and it has slowed us down. We have now taken a day off to rest up for the next leg, which we hope will be flatter.
Friday, 7th July: Never knew how high Pen Y Ghent was, we looked down on the RAF air craft as they went by. Jasper is very tired and won't eat, other than that all is OK.
Thursday, 6th July: Doing well today, been through Thornton in Craven, East Marton, Gargrave, Airton and now close to Hanlith. Some groups have given up on the walk as it is very hot.
Wednesday, 5th July (evening): Star trekking across the Pennine Way slowly going forward because we don't know the way.
Wednesday, 5th July: Now at Lathersdale. Not much done as dad and dog have sun stroke, other than that are going OK.
Wednesday, 5th July: Had a bad day yesterday because of the heat, we had the afternoon off and got a pub meal at the Pack Horse. Now just outside Cowling.
Monday, 3rd July: At Heddon Bridge, weather is very hot, Jasper (dog) is very tired.
Monday, 3rd July: All OK, just outside Standedge. Good thunder storm last night, hard terrain walking over.
Saturday, 1st July: Now at Crowden, weather hot, not a bad days walk, we did about 15 miles.
