VOLUNTEERING
You will often see us appealing in the press and anywhere else we can think of for volunteers to help us maintain and develop our services for our members.
It is becoming increasingly clear that there are many more opportunities for our own members to offer voluntary help to others with a visual impairment. The hospital information service has always relied on trained volunteers. SightLine will also need volunteers both to operate the telephones and to be available to other people with similar eye conditions to share experiences and compare notes.
Even more volunteer members will be needed as we begin to spread our services away from the two main centres of Derby and Chesterfield. We will be looking for people who are prepared to help us to run small resource centres, offices or clinics in many localities.
Please do give some thought to how you may be able to help. Don't forget that if you are visually impaired or if you are helping to care for someone who is visually impaired you are uniquely qualified to help others in the same boat.
