A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy with a
rare disease will find out over the next fortnight whether his eye will need to
be removed.
Joshua Price, of Lord Street, Allenton, was diagnosed with
Coats' disease four years ago.
The condition – which affects one in 75,000
children – means he is blind in his left eye, caused by the abnormal

People are risking their eyesight by failing to wear
protective goggles while they use sunbeds, experts have warned.
The College
of Optometrists said that
long-term damage and growths in the eyes could be caused by harmful UV rays
from sunbed lamps.
Users are not protected from damage by merely closing their

A DECISION on whether charities who want to play music
should pay more money to performers and record companies could be made next
month.
The Derby Telegraph previously reported that charities warn
they may have to stop playing recorded music, which could lead to a loss of
donations and shop custom.

A service helping elderly people in the Derbyshire Dales has
been saved by a £14,000 grant from the county council.
Readycall's 94 volunteers help older folk on trips to the
shops and with jobs around the house, support the partially sighted and blind
and freshen up rooms for disabled people.
It is run by the Volunteer Centre Derbyshire Dales, which is
based in Ashbourne.
