News: Bag Packing in Borrowash

As the jingles bells rang in the run up to Christmas, DAB was working with the Derby University Rugby Team and Somerfield in Borrowash to raise extra pennies.

The Rugby Team volunteered their time to pack bags for customers at the store in exchange for donations to support blind and visually impaired people in Derbyshire. The DU Rugby Team donated over 245 hours of time to support DAB and we split all monies raised with the team equally.

The event raised an astonishing £1776 or around £888 each. We would like to extend our huge gratitude to Somerfield Borrowash, their staff and customers and the Rugby Team who were a pleasure to work with.

Kelvin Brown, captain of the team said “It was a great opportunity for us to give something back to the community and we would be delighted to take part again in the future”

If any stores are able to support DAB by allowing us to bag pack at your store please get in touch. If any groups would like to volunteer their time to help out with bag packing or other events we look forward to hearing from you also.
