MOBILE RESOURCE CENTRE

The Mobile Resource Centre is a custom built motor home serving as a showroom which visits locations across the County.

The aids and equipment on it are all of value to visually impaired people, the majority of the items being specially designed for their use.

Things on board range from the simplest of kitchen aids to the latest hi-tech reading equipment such as talking computers. It is often helpful for people to try out the equipment to see if it meets their needs, something which is particularly useful when a choice has to be made between similar items.

The Mobile is also an information centre on all aspects of visual impairment, covering topics such as benefits, leisure pursuits and local or national services.

We site the Mobile at a different location each day so that as many visually impaired people as possible have the opportunity to visit it. We're always on the lookout for new sites and we are keen to establish links with residential homes and health centres where visually impaired people can gain access to our resources.
