Hospital Service

DAB has a presence in six hospital eye clinics in Derbyshire. Our role is to offer support and information to people who are experiencing sight problems and also to listen to and support their carers.
With clients permission we can refer them to Social Services even if they have not yet reached the stage of registration. They will assess the need for daily living aids, rehabilitation and mobility training.
We can arrange in home Low Vision Assessments to see if Opticians are able to provide suitable magnifiers and lights to help with reading tasks such as mail, instructions on medicine bottles or dials on cookers and washing machines.
Our staff and volunteers can also demonstrate the aids and equipment that are available.
Our support is on going for as long as a client wants it, and we are able to sign post them to other organisations for help.
* We offer free membership
* Clients will receive our quarterly bulletin.
* We can offer to lend Audio books
* Arrange for clients to receive Free Talking Newspapers
* Calibre Library literature
* Information Booklets on Eye Conditions
